Rescue. Rehabilitate. Release.
Giving New York Wildlife a Second Chance
Catskill Mountain Wildlife Rehabilitation rescues, rehabilitates, and releases injured and orphaned native wildlife throughout the Catskills.
In the News
CAIRO - An injured red-tailed hawk eventually found itself in the right place on Sunday: the Greene County Youth Fair.
Deputies found the hawk standing unsteadily on the side of a road and contacted Dave Loverde, who runs Friends of the Feathered and Furry Wildlife Center in Hunter. Loverde, in turn, called wildlife rehabilitator Tonya Frickney and asked her to pick up the hawk from the sheriff's office.
Frickney was manning a booth at the Greene County Youth Fair in Cairo. Little did Loverde know that her booth was right next to one staffed by sheriff's deputies.
"(Loverde) said, 'You're going to have to get (the hawk),' and I said, 'Heck no, they're going to have to give it to me,'" Frickney laughed.
